We are pleased to report two recent successful raids against counterfeit wholesalers by local police in Delhi, India on November 13, 2019.
Prior to the raid, an investigation conducted in 2019 revealed that at least 60-70 traders are offering counterfeit Hypertherm consumables in Mumbai, Delhi, Faridabad, and Gurgaon. In one example, using Chawri Bazar Delhi, a local hardware market in Delhi, we identified five shops that offered counterfeit Hypertherm consumables. Only two of the shops, however, were actual wholesalers that had counterfeit parts in stock.
The two targets, MJ Weld Safe Udyog and Bansal Hardware Store, were raided by the local police. This raid netted 584 pieces of counterfeit Hypertherm consumables worth $4,394 USD; all of which were consumables for the Powermax system. Two shop managers were arrested and face severe criminal charges.
These are the first anti-counterfeiting raids conducted by Hypertherm in India. We anticipate more actions against Indian counterfeiters in the coming months. Hypertherm continues to strike at illicit counterfeits around the world to protect the Hypertherm brand name and our global customers.
