Consumable installation for XPR systems

Although Hypertherm’s XPR QuickLock™ electrode is fast and easy to install, it is not a tool-less design. Operators need to use the round tool (part number 104119) or torque tool (part number 429013) to properly tighten it.

We have seen multiple cases of internal arc damage caused because the electrode was not properly tightened. If you see “pitting” on the seat of an electrode, that is a sure sign arcing has occurred. To prevent further damage to your equipment, you will want to replace your torch head.

We have also seen cases where the inner retaining caps are not completely inserted into place during consumable installation. It is important that inner retaining caps are properly inserted and fully engaged because again, consumables that are not property tightened will cause arcing and damage your torch.
