We wanted to share this news about a recent counterfeit raid in the Middle East as a reminder that Hypertherm counterfeit products can be found anywhere around the globe, and this is a constant challenge that we all face together. As you know, it means lost business for both of us. Last year the Hypertherm Associates IP team started collaborating with a Dubai-based law firm to investigate counterfeit in United Arab Emirates. Quest Global General Trading FZE was one of the first competitors identified and where we focused our efforts.
Quest Global General Trading has been exceptionally active with importing, advertising, and selling counterfeit consumables and parts in the Middle East and we have information that they are also impacting Hypertherm Associates’ business in India.
We were able to obtain test samples for Powermax® electrodes and nozzles and confirmed that both electrode and nozzle were counterfeit.
On February 1, 2023, we successfully conducted the raid where 360 HPR® consumables were seized. After the investigation by the police, along with other supporting evidence, the case will be transferred to the Public Prosecution for further inquiry and to the Court for adjudication.
