Brexit – CHIEF to CDS migration

The United Kingdom will soon replace its current electronic system for customs declaration, called CHIEF (Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight), with a new system called CDS (Customs Declaration Service).

The government is transitioning away from CHIEF in two phases. Phase one, which impacts import declarations, goes into effect on 1 October 2022. This means that any person or company importing product into the U.K. will need to register for a new CDS account prior to that date.

To avoid any disruption to your business, we urge you to complete the government’s 5-step CDS registration process immediately. The following link will walk you through the process.
