Transport and Import solutions after January 1 -2021

By means of this letter Hypertherm would like to inform you about the possible solutions on how to import Hypertherm products into the United Kingdom after December 31st, 2020.

Starting January 1, 2021 when transition period has ended, Hypertherm is willing to support you in implementation of the following transport and import solutions.

These solutions are built on current solutions which will therefore limit the impact for you as much as possible but also reduce the implementation risk as much as possible. For all suggested solutions, you will need take action. If no action will be taken by you, it will be impossible for us to continue service, which will result in negative impact on you but also on our end users.

The suggested solutions are combinations of:

  • Transport company
    • UPS, Dachser or EXW (transport by Channel Partner)
  • Broker
    • UPS, Dachser or by Channel Partner (3rd party broker with own contract or in-house)

Obviously, depending on the carrier / transport company you are currently using some solutions might not be applicable to you.

Solution 1.  Transport: UPS.                                Broker: UPS

Solution 2.  Transport: Dachser.                        Broker: Dachser

Solution 3.  Transport: Dachser or UPS.          Broker: Channel Partner (inhouse or 3rd party broker)

Solution 4.  Transport: Channel Partner.        Broker: Picked up by the channel partner.

Depending on the solution(s) chosen, you will need to provide a Power of Attorney (POA) to UPS and/or Dachser. This Power of Attorney will allow UPS or Dachser to represent you during the importation process. This representation is a ‘direct’ representation, meaning that you are responsible for payment of duties, VAT, and brokerage cost.

Hypertherm is not a party in the agreement between you and UPS and/or Dachser, but Hypertherm needs to be aware that a POA has been signed between UPS and/or Dachser or that you have implemented an own solution (solution 3 or 4) otherwise the goods cannot leave the warehouse in The Netherlands. Transport companies will not ship products for which the required importation processes are not implemented to avoid an overload of their UK (bonded) transport platforms.

The requirements per solution are explained here

Additional topics

DROP SHIP / ABC TRANSACTION:  Our approach till now is that we can continue drop shipments within the UK. Although we do expect and advise you that due to the importation cost per shipment it might be more economically to create additional inventory in the UK and ship to your customers from there. Drop shipments outside the UK (e.g. into the European Union), are not possible anymore from January 1, 2021 onwards.

DEADLINE: UPS and / or Dachser and Hypertherm need to receive the required information as soon as possible but certainly not later than December 1, 2020. If an answer or the required information is not received by UPS and/ or Dachser by December 1, 2020, we assume no workable solution is implemented and we will therefore stop shipments to you as of December 30, 2020

INVENTORY: As you may have seen the Cabinet Office have issued a report about the ‘Reasonable Worst Case Scenario for Borders at the end of the transition period on 31 December 2020’. Delays & issues related to transportation and importation are expected. We therefore strongly suggest to increase your inventory before the year end. This will allow you and us to continue to deliver high service to you and our customers. The earlier we are aware of your request, the more likely we can accommodate it. We will check whether your additional order is in line with your historical order patterns, otherwise we reserve the right to alter your order. Further we suggest not to create any orders between December 28, 2020 and January 1, 2021 to avoid any uncontrollable delays in the first few days of January 2021

Please inform Hypertherm (Brexit@Hypertherm.com) as soon as possible in case you plan to increase your inventory before the year-end.

Please do contact us in case you have any questions or concerns on the above. We have set up a specific e-mail address:  Brexit@Hypertherm.com
