Hypertherm is now shipping an electrode torque tool with all XPR units. This change should make it easier for end users to correctly position and tighten the electrode, preventing torch damage and even failure.
Although the XPR QuickLockTM electrode is fast and easy to install, it is not a tool-less design. Operators must properly tighten the electrode using one of two tools: the 104119 round tool or 429013 torque tool. The advantage of the 429013 tool is that it is pre-calibrated to the correct specification of 2.5 newton meters (22.1 inch pounds) which eliminates operator error when installing the electrode.
The tool is included with all XPR systems produced and shipped after June 9, 2020. OEMs and system integrators will find it inside a marketing kit, ty-wrapped to the back of the XPR. It is important that this kit be given to the system’s eventual owner.
