Contactor Change in XPR Power Supplies

We have recently made a sourcing change for contactors used in our XPR power supplies. Previously our power supplies were made with only Siemens brand contactors. To strengthen our supply chain, and transition from a single contactor source, we have qualified two alternate brands, Allen-Bradley and ABB, that we are now using in our XPR’s. These changes in contactor manufacturers will have no impact to the price or function of our power supplies.

Specifically, the change to ABB applies to in-rush contactors used in all XPR300’s. The move to Allen – Bradley applies to main contactors used in high voltage XPR170 and XPR300 power supplies. There is no change to the main contactors (Siemens) used in low voltage (200 – 240V) XPR170 and XPR300 power supplies.

Power supplies impacted:

For customers with power supplies that have Siemens contactors, the new contactors are cross-compatible, but are mounted differently. The attached field service bulletin (FSB) details installation instructions for the new ABB and Allen-Bradley contactors. Siemens instructions are also included in the FSB to cover all possible contactor configurations.

The preventive maintenance electronics kits listed below will now include the new contactors, installation hardware, and an FSB.
