New XPR® control board firmware | X and K bevel capability released

We have released the XPR® control board firmware This new firmware for the control board will be at revision L while all other XPR components will remain at revision J. This impacts both the XPR300 and XPR170 systems.

There are two changes occurring in this revision L release:

1. The XPR170® and XPR300® will now be able to use the ohmic contact torch height function with all Vented Water Injection (VWI) processes. This was not possible before, requiring sensing through stall force with VWI. This created problems when very thin plate was involved and especially when the cutting machine was equipped with a bevel head, which created less sensitivity to plate pressure.

2. Fixing false upload errors. When updating the firmware using Wi-Fi sometimes at the end of the uprev process an error message was sent suggesting that the uprev had not been complete, when in fact it had. This has been fixed.

The new firmware is available for upload on Xnet. Only the control board firmware is affected.

The upreved Phoenix® software (version 10.11) is also released. This uprev allows the ohmic contact function for VWI processes. In earlier Phoenix versions, height sensing automatically switched from ohmic to stall force when a VWI process was selected. Customers not using EDGE® Connect may have to make similar small software adjustments as a result of this new capability.

X and K XPR True BevelTM compensation values
In addition, we released both X and K True Bevel functionality for 170 A and 300 A processes on April 10th. This will be available in the latest revision of ProNest® 2019 v13.0.5 and compensation values will be available through our PAEs to partners using other software.

The white paper entitled: “True Bevel™ Technology – XPR bevel compensation cut charts” will be updated to included details on X and K bevel and will be available in translation a few weeks after release. The English version part number is 809890 and it is available on Xnet
