Packaging Changes

In the coming weeks you may notice visual changes to shipping boxes for Powermax brand plasma systems. In support of our Greener Cuts initiative and to reduce our environmental impact we are switching from bleached, white boxes to brown, kraft boxes. This aesthetic change will not reduce the rigidity or durability of the box.

By no longer using bleached boxes with black printed lids the annual environmental benefits are:
– Reduction of 70 metric tons (77 US tons) of wood,
– Reduction of CO2 emissions by 25,810 kilograms (56,903 lbs.), which is equal to 102.032 km driven by a car,
– Elimination 24,658 kilograms (54,362 lbs.) of solid waste,
– Reduction of water by 2,465,018 liters (651,189 gallons) which is equivalent to an Olympic sized pool.

In our continuous improvement culture, we explore ways to improve our operations, products, and service. This packaging change is just one example of that effort. For example, we are also evaluating different internal packing material for our Powermax systems. Depending on shipping test results, this new internal packaging material may offer improved product protection while reducing shipping weight which will have further environmental benefits.
